Dan and Adam have been working hard to make sure all of the foundational pieces are in place (policies and procedures, legal paperwork, etc.), in order to ensure firm support of programs.

We are now working hard to make contacts and beginning to fill the calendar with programs. At the moment we are directing our efforts toward recruiting groups. As soon as we have the staff capacity needed, we will begin offering open enrollment style programs. If you know of a group who might be interested in Waypoint Adventure programs, please let us know or have them contact us. Until our website is officially up and running, you can find our contact information on this blog or on facebook.

May Institute Sailing Program at Piers Park Sailing Center 10/2010

Boston College High School Leadership Team Building Program 10/2010Adam and Anniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15172440929110344142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148293122314758003.post-47567916366315606872010-10-08T12:13:00.000-07:002010-10-08T12:17:58.933-07:00Harvard Square Oktoberfest this Sunday!
Come out to the Harvard Square Octoberfest this Sunday. It was a huge success and we owe it all to you guys! It was so great to see all of the familiar faces along with so many new ones. We really enjoyed getting to catch up with all of you and share our excitement of things to come. A great night of pizza, bowling, and community was had by all. Again, we just want to express our gratitude to everyone -- our amazing dessert bakers, t-shirt makers, those who spread the word, and all of our supporters whether near or far, we could never do any of this without you. We truly are a part of an amazing community. Here are some pictures from last night, enjoy!

<img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; The more we explain to folks, “why waypoint” the more it begins to resonate true.

Life is a journey, comprised of significant goals. Sometimes those goals are clear and recognizable, but other times we need people or life experiences to open our eyes to their reality. As we move toward achieving these goals, we come across markers that help us stay on target. These markers might be people, experiences or ideas. Their intent is to focus us, redirect us or simply provide support.

To explain this idea, an easy metaphor can be drawn from the act of navigation with a map and compass. Once you have determined your destination or goal, you must set a bearing in that direction. In most situations you cannot see the end point, and in order to hit your mark accurately you must aim your compass to a point within view. These points are your “waypoints.” It is at these points that you can re-assess your positioning before pressing on toward your goal. In short, these waypoints are significant places along your journey that keep you on your desired path.

We believe that the programs at Waypoint Adventure will be a marker (waypoint) for our participants. Through the power of adventure experiences, we will strive to help our participants further develop an understanding of themselves and the world around them--thus directing them toward their goals.Adam and Anniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15172440929110344142noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148293122314758003.post-38317791535845102222010-07-17T12:10:00.000-07:002010-07-17T12:15:25.998-07:00It's Official!!We hope that everyone is having a great summer! Aside from the heat, the weather has been pretty amazing. Hopefully you are all getting outside and enjoying it.

We apologize for not being more diligent in keeping everyone informed since the creation of this blog. Things here at Waypoint have been really busy, and we are just now finding time to update our progress.

So here it goes – As of yesterday (Thursday, July 16, 2010) we are officially recognized as a non-profit corporation in the state of Massachusetts!!!! Wahoooo!! We are really excited and hope you are too!

Although this is the first of many hurdles, we are really close to getting back out on programs with all of you. We can feel the wind, smell the pine trees, feel the water, and hear the great conversation. It’s almost time!

Our next major step is to file our paperwork with the Attorney General’s office to receive a “Certificate of Solicitation.” This certificate will allow us to raise funds. So, if you were planning on making a donation, hold off for a couple more weeks. We’ll let you know when we are clear to receive your generous gifts. :)

Finally, some other exciting news - We are working with a couple different design firms who are helping us to develop a logo and some marketing materials. It won’t be long until this will be finalized and you can see the new face of Waypoint Adventure. Until then, enjoy your summer and try to get outside as much as possible!

Dan and AdamAdam and Anniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15172440929110344142noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148293122314758003.post-29199493691535423042010-05-28T04:39:00.000-07:002010-06-29T11:30:55.146-07:00Welcome!Welcome to the Waypoint Adventure blog! This is the beginning of a new and really exciting chapter.

At Waypoint our mission is to act as a trusted resource to help youth and adults of all abilities discover their purpose, talents, and strengths through the transforming power of adventure.

We are unique in that we are able to custom tailor our curriculum to assist individuals and groups of all physical and cognitive abilities to meet their goals and bring about positive personal, social and spiritual change. Our programs will operate using a delicate balance of goal setting, supportive group interaction, challenging adventure experiences and facilitated debrief. Through these experiences, participants will realize their value, strengths and abilities and learn life skills that will translate into making them stronger individuals and community members.

Right now, Dan and Adam have been elbow deep in paperwork as we are in the process of filing forms and adhering to all legalities that allow non-profits to be born. The wheels are beginning to spin, the momentum is building, and we can see life being breathed into Waypoint! We are looking forward to the opportunity to custom tailor a program that meets your specific needs and goals in the near future.

Keep checking in with us as we'll keep you updated on all that's going on.
